Hydrocodone works well. But for cronic pain you might build a tolerance to it quickly and it wont work as well, plus hydrocodone is very short acting, 4-6 hrs, unlike methadone that shoud last up to 12 hrs. If you continue to take methadone the euphoric, drowsy side effect should subside as you build a tolerance to it but the pain relief shouldent change. To offer a sutible alternative i would need more information on what kind of cronic pain you have...like for migraines you could try somthing like imitrex, ect.
Also.... You may need your dosage changed, I was once on it and was a zombie, they adjusted my dose and i was back to normal, also I prefer methadone because there are little to no sideaffects. I don't feel stoned, and that's a big plus!!
If you are drowsy on methadone, you are on too high of a dose. Have it adjusted ASAP. Do not get into the pills because they are not as easy to control. Best of luck to you.
you will feel drowsy if the dose is too much.
It can cause some people to feel drowsy, dizzy, or light-headed. People taking methadone should not drive a car or operate machinery.
Yes but it will make you drowsy & your blood pressure will go down.
YES! Methadone has a 72 hour half life and its effects can be felt up to five days after any size dose, especially a large one.
Yes you can take them both together if you want to be seriously tired and drowsy. At least for me if i take more than one methadone at a time it just puts me to sleep and as far as methocarbmol goes all it is is a very weak muscle relaxer.
Take the xanax away... I take it she is coming off heroin or an opiate since she is on methadone. When you take a benzo with methadone it creates a heroin like effect, and can cause black outs. I personally would not recommend methadone, Suboxone is the better option or Subutex. But be aware that Subutex and Suboxone will give you INSTANt withdraw symptoms,a hardhitting cold turkey, if your not completely out of the Methadone.
you can drive while on any dose of methadone, as long as it is a stable dose. and do not have the "nod". i was on 20mls and just recently up'd to 30mls. On 20mls i felt great wide awake and lots of energy. Today on 30mls, i am nodding off and have a bad headache. so today i would not drive my car. hope that helps.
