I had the modified kidner procedure on 29th June and will be in a cast for 6 weeks. During this time I am not to weight bear at all. After that I will be in an 'air boot' for another 6 weeks where I will be able to weight bear. I am presently in week 5 since the op.
The operation went well and I have been virtually pain free. The main consideration is swelling. You really have to keep your foot up high and I have been told that the swelling won't go away for up to a year. I have read lots of articles about this and feel that my consultant has been very realistic with regards to time scales and am happy to be patient (so far!).
