In general you need a 4 year degree to get into medical school, then 4 years of medical school. Before you can be a full doctor you need at least 2 years of residency training. So you're looking at about 10 years minimum after high school.

You will need to choose your specialty such as neurosurgeon, cardiovascular sergeon, or something like that, and that will take you 4 years of specialization after finishing MD plus 2 year internship.
It takes a bachelors degree in science (4+ years), MD degree (4 more years), plus 3-5+ years of residency training.
