The indication for prostatic surgery depends upon the symptoms. Increased frequency disturbing sleep, poor stream, back pressure to the kidneys, an episode of retention of urine, recurrent infections and evidence of cancer may be an indication for surgical intervention
Yes. However the malignant cells may be out of reach of the surgery, in which case the test could supply a false negative result.
Surgery on hemorrhoids is typically performed by a specialist known as a colorectal surgeon. These surgeons are trained to diagnose and treat conditions related to the colon, rectum, and anus, including hemorrhoids. In some cases, general surgeons may also perform hemorrhoid surgery, depending on the complexity of the case.
"Surgery" means the actual intervention into the body to correct problems. Not all illnesses require surgical intervention - for example pneumonia may require hospitalization, but no "surgical" intervention into the body to cure it. A surgical case would be a sub-set of total cases in any hospital at a given time. Outside the US, "surgery" can also mean a place where a doctor practices or surgeries are performed, not just the actual act.
In the U.S., “intervention” is a Civil Law procedure where someone not currently part of a case can join the case to make sure their interests get fairly represented.
I am not sure that you can do it youself, you need to consult a urologist and do not neglect the condition as without scaring you, such a condition if left untreated can lead to problems and even cancer. Please get good medical advice and treatment!
It's unimaginable that a doctor would want to surgically treat either the prostate cancer or the gall bladder of a 73-year old. The risks include greatly reduced quality of life, potential infection and death. This is a clear case where the patient must be fully informed about what to expect in the worse case from life without a gall bladder, what alternatives should be attempted prior to surgery, with the final decision in every case left to him alone.
The answer to your question, depends if the doctor removes your prostate. If your prostate is removed, you will not be able to impregnate a woman through sexual intercourse, as the prostate mixes with semen to coat and nourish sperm. You can still get pregnant via IVF or have your sperm implanted in the uterus. If the prostate is not removed, it is possible normal function can be restored in any where from 3 months to 1 year.
If you are an elderly person and have this problem, it could mean that you have an enlarged prostate that is blocking the urine from coming out and the urine is backing up into your kidneys and causing the back pain. If this was the case, I would expect you have to get up to pee every hour --or so-- all night long, and you don't get much sleep. If this is the case, then you need to see your doctor so he can make sure that you don't have something really bad wrong with your prostate... like cancer... If it is just because your prostate has gotten big and it has partially closed-off the tube in your penis (it's called the urethra [YOU-REETH'-RA]), and you do NOT have prostate cancer, then there is medicine that can help shrink the prostate so you can pee better. Sometimes they have to do a surgery to go in and remove some of the extra tissue (it's like a roto-rooter surgery). But actually, this sounds like you have two problems happening... Because it hurts you when you pee, that suggests that you may have an infection in your penis, or in your prostate gland (inside deep behind your testicles). You need to see a doctor to see what could be causing the infection. If this is the case, then your back pain should not have anything to do with the burning in your penis... but you really need to see a doctor/PA/NP and get this checked out... OK...??
In some men, the Prostate Gland may become enlarged. The causes can be due to a cancer, or a benign condition. The benign condition is called Benign Prostate Hyperplasia, or BPH. In the case of cancer, there will be a whole range of treatments available. In the case of BPH, there may be no treatment offered if there are no symptoms present; there are also drugs available as well as other treatments that can be used if there are symptoms. As it is a physiological enlargement, lifestyle, diet changes and use of herbs are of benefits.
To identify opportunities for disease intervention
Washington Week in Review - 1967 The Case for Intervention in Syria at Home and Abroad was released on: USA: 6 September 2013
There are 2 basic treatments. One is surgery to remove part or all of the prostate gland. The second is radiation therapy to shrink and destroy any cancers that are present. The doctor and patient will decide which treatment to go with depending on the case in question.
