When you get your nose cauterized it does not hurt because the doctor puts a numbing thing in your nose on a cotton ball, After its done it took me about an hour to get my feeling back (the numbing stuff ran down my throat so it numbed my throat) and then I got a runny nose, then a blocked nose, runny nose, blocked nose, it keeps changing. People say " don't blow your nose for a week after it", but I got it done yesterday and I'm blowing my nose hard and nothing bad happened.
That's Silver Nitrate, which is the chemical used to cauterize the blood vessel. I've had two nose cauterization done recently due to nosebleeds, and both times a bit of silver nitrate gone onto my skin right outside my nostril. Initially I was worried that I might not be able to get it off, but after about 2 1/2 days, I see that it was flecking off a bit when I rubbed it, and so I lightly scratched it, and the brown spots came off! ^-^
I pulled off my old burnt skin (from inside my nose) after 1 week.
If I have a cauterization what should I do after the proceedure?
It is normal to experience a temporary smell after cauterization, as it can sometimes cause a burning odor. This is typically due to the tissue being sealed using heat during the procedure. If you are concerned or if the smell persists, it is best to consult with your healthcare provider for further evaluation.
a discription of a cauterization is treating tissue with heat.
Injudicious cauterization of both sides of the septum causes a perforated septum when death of nose tissue occurs.
"They couldn't staunch the bleeding, so cauterization was necessary to seal the wound."
No, your eyes shouldn't be effected during or after nasal cauterization.
Yes, swelling of the eyes can occur as a reaction to nasal cauterization with silver nitrate. This can happen if the fumes or solution come in contact with the eyes during the procedure. It is important to seek medical attention if this occurs.
if its external, with a pain relieving antiseptic, if internal cauterization, youd need NSAID
It can move its nose slightly from side to side.
