The most dangerous thing in most homes is probably the food. Consuming unhealthy foods will provide problems in the long term, but an incorrect preparation or bad hygiene can be very dangerous in the short run.

Some homes will have other things in them which are more dangerous than food like: industrial chemicals, firearms, explosives, hard drugs, carbon-monoxide hazards, high voltage, unsafe medication, crazy people, badly stored cleaning products, highly flammable material, slippery floors and stairs.

The most dangerous thing in many home is FALLS. Seniors are susceptible to falling, and falls are one on the biggest causes of serious injury and/or death in seniors. Serious falls result in head injuries, bumps, bruises, even bleeding; they may be followed by hospitalizations. A fall can also result in broken bones; such as an arm, leg or hip.

The most dangerous rooms in the home are the bathroom and the kitchen. These are the rooms in which most accidents happen. In the bath room, as mentioned above, falls while getting into and out of the tub or shower stall, pose a big risk. Slipping and falling due to spills on the floor; burns from bath or sink water that is too hot (usually the water heater is set to high); electrical shocks due to hairdryer, shaver, heater, radio… setting to close to the sink or tub. In the kitchen, there can be falls due to spills on the floor; burns from the stove or hot food; burns from excessively hot water in the sink; chemicals burns to skin or lungs from storing lye or drain cleaner under the sink.
