Yes, you are protected from pregnancy during the 7-day break on the patch, as long as you have used it correctly for at least 7 consecutive days prior to the break. The hormonal levels provided by the patch remain effective during this pause. However, if you did not use the patch consistently, or if it fell off for more than 24 hours, you may not be adequately protected and should use a backup method of contraception. Always consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice.
Hi Your question is: Are you protected on your 7 day break on the contraceptive pill? Providing you have been on the pill for over one month, then you are protected against pregnancy but if you miss a pill you will not be protected. Please note this is advice only & should not be used in place of your Doctors.

The instructions for Ortho Evra and Evra (the contraceptive patch) both say that if you miss the schedule by more than one day (by keeping a patch on for 1 day too long, by losing a patch for more than one day, or by forgetting to put a new patch on for more than one day), that you could get pregnant. The instructions advise putting on a new patch, and letting that day being your new start day. After 7 days, the instructions say, you can have sex again without a barrier device.

It is difficult and almost impossible to determine the effectiveness of a drug when it is not used according to directions. This principle applies to Ortho Evra and Evra (the contraceptive patch) as well. The instructions for Ortho Evra and Evra both say that if you miss the schedule by more than one day (by keeping a patch on for 1 day too long, by losing a patch for more than one day, or by forgetting to put a new patch on for more than one day), that you could get pregnant. If you lost the last pill of a twenty one day pack, you should take your 7 day break as normal but use additional contraception for the next 7 days. You may have a period and at the end of the 7 day break, commence your new packet of pills immediately.
