Xanax 'kicks in' a lot quicker than Serax, and is definitely noticeable when it grabs hold, while Serax is slower to work, and more mellow, but both are relatively short-acting compared to Valium. Take 2mg. of Xanax and it hits fairly hard and goes away hard, and leaves a "hangover" feeling. Take 80mg. of Serax and it's easy all the way. 4mg. of Xanax feels like a mini-Quaalude to me?! Yes, you can. As a matter of fact, my Dr. prescribed me Xanax solely for this purpose. I was on 150mg Effexor XR, and switched to Zoloft. The Xanax was to be used while tapering down the Effexor and then ramping up the Zoloft. The Xanax was a lifesaver dealing with increased anxiety while going through the Effexor withdrawal and waiting for the Zoloft to "kick in". Talk to your Dr., as I'm not one, but I think you'd be fine using the Xanax as a very temporary aid while going through the withdrawal.

In terms of effectiveness - everyone responds differently. I have tried both and currently switch between the two. Lexotan : - I get a better deeper sleep - Acts longer - I don't have a groggy next morning Xanax : - Need to take more of it - sometimes wake up depressed or in middle of night and find I need to take more of it - Mixed with alcohol...don't go there. It will mess you up. I don't condone abuse of benzos...but Xanax and alcohol can lead you down a very dark path. Take my advice don't drink and take xanax.

yes you can take Wellbutrin and Xanax together. My doctor prescribed both for me for Anxiety. After a while, you should be able to notice that you arent needing as much xanax or taking it less often. That is the Wellbutrin helping to calm your anxiety level. After a while, you may actually be able to not take any xanax or you may find yourself being able to handle the anxiety without a chemical fixer
