which antibiotics can be safely given

There may be an interaction between penicillin and some compounds: birth control pills containing estrogen, chloramphenicol, tetracycline antibiotics, methotrexate, probenecid, colestipol, warfarin... hypersensitivity (anaphylactic) reactions can occur in individuals with a history of penicillin hypersensitivity ... Incompletely developed renal function in newborns may delay elimination of penicillin.
Anaphylaxis
cloth bacteria
There is no similarity between penicillin and the flu vaccine. See the related questions below for more information on who should not get vaccinated for the swine flu.
Penicillin is rarely used now a days. It is because it can cause anaphylactic reaction in few patients. Patient can die instantly out of this reaction. Even a test dose can lead to the death of the patient. Patient becomes unconscious in seconds. Patient gets severe spasm of the tracheobronchial tree and the blood pressure falls down. Pulse may not be felt at all. Nobody will like to take the risk of anaphylactic reaction of the penicillin. Never the less penicillin is still the life saving drug.
penicillin group of antibiotic or any allergen effect
There are people who are allergic to penicillin and who have what is called an anaphalactic reaction. The most serious reactions can cause death.
Both ceftriaxone and penicillin can cause allergic reactions, but they are different in terms of the type and severity of reactions. Ceftriaxone is less likely to cause allergic reactions compared to penicillin. Penicillin allergies are more common and can range from mild rashes to severe anaphylaxis. Ceftriaxone allergies are usually milder and less common. It is important to consult a healthcare provider if you suspect an allergic reaction to either medication.
That is a very good question again asked by the expert on this subject. In the first place you do not know the exact mechanism by which penicillin allergy occurs. It may be due to traces of bacterial proteins remaining in the preparation or may be mediated through hapten mechanism or either of them or very rarely both of them may be responsible for the allergic reaction of penicillin. When you prepare the amoxicillin from penicillin, the protein/proteins responsible for allergic reaction may be destroyed and you do not get the allergic reactions of amoxicillin so commonly. Nevertheless severe anaphylactic reacions with injectable ampicillin has been obsevered by the cotntributor, although very rarely as compared to penicillin. And injectable ampicillin should be better avoided in patients allergic to penicillin.
Penicillin is made of of the Penicillium fungi which produces penicillin that causes cell wall destruction which in turn causes cell lysis.
Penicillin is the safest of all the known antibiotics. The dose of penicillin used by Chan and Flory was only 5000 international units. Fortunately it worked. Normally half million dose of procaine penicillin will cover most of the susceptible infections. But one million penicillin G can be safely given two to three times a day to an adult in pneumonia. The maximum dose of penicillin given in meningitis is 24 million international units per day. Even the higher dose can be given with out any problem. The real problem is you give either the sodium or the potassium salt of the penicillin. Kidney gets load of excretion of that much sodium or potassium. That is 'the' beauty of penicillin. Penicillin is very safe. But there is one exception. Patient may get anaphylactic reaction at times. You have to manage it. Other wise the patient may die on the spot. The use of penicillin has practically stopped due to fear of anaphylactic reaction. Large number of patients die of not getting penicillin. Very few will die of the reaction. Doctors do not take the risk. That is correct. For this loss of lives the society and judiciary is responsible.
