Is it possible to have a long period after inserted Mirena?

No. you need to go to the doctors to get that checked out! that happened to my mom and she had 2 tumors in her bladder. Not a good sign!!! Prolonged heavy menstrual bleeding is listed as one of the "severe" side effects of Mirena. You should definitely consult a doctor. See the link below for a list of side effects from Mirena use.

You got Mirena in May and am still bleeding heavily and have really bad cramps is this normal?

I am sorry to hear that you are having a bad time with the Mirena. I too had the Mirena and experienced the same issues as yourself over an 8 month period. It turned out that I had several oversized Fibroids and the Mirena did not help with the stemming of heavy bleeding. I had my Mirena removed and subsequently the Fibroids - best thing I ever did. I know they say it can work instantly or may take a couple of months, but it depends on how long you want to continue with things they way they are. Good luck with which ever dicision you make.

Do you need another Mirena coil fitted aged 50?

Whether you need another Mirena coil fitted at age 50 depends on your individual health circumstances and reproductive plans. If you are still experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding or require contraception, it may be beneficial to keep the Mirena coil or replace it. However, if you have reached menopause (typically around age 51) and have no further need for contraception or management of heavy bleeding, you may not need another coil. It's best to consult with your healthcare provider to discuss your options.

What might cause strong menstruation that lasts for many days?

One cause is the growth of polyps in the uterus. Many women have a hysterectomy to address the heavy bleeding, and many find quick relief through the insertion of a Mirena IUD. There are a number of potential causes, and for each cause (or combination of causes) your gynaecologist will work with you to find a solution that works.

Is dicynone 500 is the best for stopping heavy bleeding?

Dicynone (ethamsylate) is commonly used to manage heavy bleeding by promoting blood clotting and stabilizing capillaries. While it can be effective for certain conditions, its suitability as the "best" option depends on the specific cause of the bleeding and individual patient factors. It's important to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and personalized treatment recommendations tailored to the individual's needs.

Can you go through menopause if your on Mirena?

Yes, you can go through menopause while using a Mirena IUD. Mirena is a hormonal intrauterine device primarily used for contraception and can also help manage heavy menstrual bleeding, but it does not prevent menopause. Menopause occurs when the ovaries stop producing eggs and hormones, and this natural process can happen regardless of contraceptive methods. However, some women may experience changes in their menstrual cycles while using Mirena as they approach menopause.
