Yes my friend...u can....There are only a few drugs with which alcohol is contraindicated.
They're mostly those drugs which cause a process called DISULFIRAM LIKE REACTION where the the drugs inhibit the enzyme responsible to metabolise the alcohol into its end products....If u make the mistake of taking the two together, it can lead to Symptoms like Nausea,Vomiting,Accelerated heart rate,Flushing,shortness of breath,severe headache....Something like the worst hangover u can ever get..
Some of these drugs are :
METRONIDAZOLE
TINIDAZOLE
CEFOPERAZONE
CHLORPROPAMIDE
TOLBUTAMIDE
CHLORAMPHENICOL
GRISEOFULVIN etc....
Then there are other drugs which are a problem due to a different cause -
that is drugs that themselves depress your Nervous system like alcohol and mixing the two causes increased Central nervous system depression
Like: Diazepam, barbiturates , diphenhydramine , promethazine etc ...
BOTTOMLINE: Go ahead drink ....nothing will happen...only thing that can go wrong might be that ur antibiotic wont be as effective...and that too if ur on a hardout binge.
