Can you drink alcohol while taking lamisil?

No i wouldn't advise it,tablets and medication don't mix(im on these and wont touch alcohol)

The truth is Lamisil, or it's generic equivalent Terbinafine, are both tough on the liver and have some side effects--so much so that any doctor worth his salt will run blood tests to check liver function.

But--alcohol is also tough on the liver without taking anything at all. If you are a normal person (read: not an alcoholic) in your intake, the combination of taking Lamisil/Terbinafine and moderate drinking won't effect your liver at all. Most docs do follow-up tests at 45-day intervals (this drug is usually prescribed for 90 to 180 days) and if you're having any issues at all, he/she will probably pull you from the prescription if you're honest about your alcohol use.

My doctor told me that drinking alcohol while taking terbinafine can cause excess strain on the liver and possible liver damage. The same is true for acetaminophen. Aspirin should be used instead.

However, I had a few drinks after I started taking this drug, no more than I typically had. I found myself the next morning not remembering going to bed the night before. My friends told me that I didn't drink very much, comparitively, yet I was acting very antoxiated. This happened a few times until I realized that it all started when I started taking this drug. After I stopped taking this drug I no longer experienced events like this.

There is no absolute contraindication to combining Lamisil and Alcohol. Lamisil can potentially affect the liver and so can alcohol. The combination is not a good idea;but, checking liver functions are regularly checked(and intake moderate) this is probably OK.

While you are taking Lamisil you should not consume alcohol. However long that may be (usually a two to three months).
