As far as I know it is safe. I took it during 2006 while pregnant with my son I was worried & a nurse & doctor told me on different occasions that it would be best to stay on it then to get off & have the chemicals in my brain fluctuate while pregnant.

I was pretty stable & happy while on it. Ask your doctor to be sure as the medical community is constantly changing their minds! Drink plenty water & as with all drugs read the label!

I just read a couple of articles on line about this. One called it a class "b" drug and the other a class "c". What I read is that some birth defects were present in rats and rabbits but none have been documented in humans. There have been no authoritative results from humans taking it. The doctors that I heard quoted said to weigh potential drug effects against the intensity of depression (or smoking which is much worse than either of these). Some doctors seam to think the use of Welbutrin during pregnancy can increase the possibility of miscarriage and contribute to low birth weight. God bless you in your quest to become a parent :)
