Yes, you can take Gaviscon and ranitidine together, as they work in different ways to relieve heartburn and indigestion. Ranitidine reduces stomach acid production, while Gaviscon forms a protective barrier that helps prevent acid reflux. However, it’s always advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before combining medications to ensure safety and effectiveness based on your individual health needs.
I don't suggest crushing or chewing Ranitidine (Zantac) it will not make them work any faster. If it's the effervescent tablets follow the instructions below. The 25mg Zantac effervescent tablets should dissolved in 1teaspoon of water. The 150mg Zantac effervescent tablets should be dissolved in 6-8ounces of water. *make sure you mix it well & it's all dissolved before consuming*
Yes, Gaviscon is an over-the-counter medication that can effectively relieve heartburn, indigestion, and acid reflux symptoms by creating a protective barrier in the stomach to prevent acid from rising up into the esophagus. It is generally safe and well-tolerated for most people.
Gaviscon was invented in 1961 by a British pharmacist named John F. M. McCulloch. It was developed as an over-the-counter medication to provide relief from heartburn and indigestion. The product quickly gained popularity and has since become a well-known remedy for gastrointestinal discomfort.
In the US, ranitidine is classifed as a Pregnancy Category B drug, meaning: "Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester" In Australia they categorize it as a Pregnancy Category B1, meaning: "Drugs that have been taken by only a limited number of pregnant women and women of childbearing age, without an increase in the frequency of malformation or other direct or indirect harmful effects on the human fetus having been observed. Studies in animals have not shown evidence of an increased occurrence of fetal damage". This means that is it probably safe to take during pregnancy, but it's best to ask your GP, especially if you're having an ongoing problem with indigestion/acid reflux.
I currently take 60mg of lovan with 75mg of seroquel in the morning then 150mg of seroquel at night. This combination works for me and I have questioned my Dr. if it was safe. There can be a moderate interaction, however this will vary from person to person. Like I said this has been safe and worked well for me, unfortunately it can often be trial and error with these types of medications.
Ranitidine, the generic name for Zantac, is a H2 histamine blocker used for the prevention and treatment of GastroEsophageal Reflux disease (GERD) or Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD). It is commonly used as first line treatment for this complaint and may be used with other anti-GERD medications, including proton pump inhibitors, such as omeprazole, esomeprazole, pantoprazole, and rabeprazole. H2 blockers are sometimes also used in the adjuvant treatment of severe allergic reactions, in addition to diphenhydramine, epinephrine, and corticosteroids. Ranitidine belongs to a class of medications, the H2 blockers. Other medications in this class include famotidine (Pepcid), nizatidine (Axid), and cimetidine (Tagamet).
yes, acid reflux can be treated. I prevent my acid reflux with Gaviscon and stop the pain after feeling it with prevacid. I do not believe acid reflux can be completely cured but it can be very well controlled.
