Can you take muscle relaxers while breastfeeding?

I suggest you don't just ask anybody this question. Read the information slip that should have come with the package and check with your Dr. What muscle relaxant are you thinkig of? I looked up an over the counter Muscle Relaxant on e-MIMs which is an Australian Medication reference used by Nurses and Drs. The relaxant's generic name is Baclofen which is the main Muscle Relaxant on the list and this was the pregnancy category it received. Category B3

Drugs that have been taken by only a limited number of pregnant women and women of childbearing age, without an increase in the frequency of malformation or other direct or indirect harmful effects on the human fetus having been observed. Studies in animals[1] have shown evidence of an increased occurrence of fetal damage, the significance of which is considered uncertain in humans.

Then I looked up Dantrolene Socium (main Trade name is Dantrium). This received the following pregnancy category. Category B2

Basically there hasn't been enough research into this to be sure. I suggest that if this is an ongoing problem you see your Dr.

Flexeril is what I have taken for my severe backpain during pregnancy. It is catergory B which means no adverse effects have been shown and it is considered safe. Ask your OB/GYN to be sure.

i would ask The doctor.The muscle relaxer should also have a warning somewhere if its harmful when your pregnant

No not safe my doctor advised me to wait until I stopped breasrfeeding to take it.

No and this is something you need to talk to your doctor about if you need anything stronger than Tylenol.

No. Everything you take, eat, drink goes to your baby. You take NOTHING.
