what are the side effects for foramital cervical injections? I am a 49 yr old female
with cervical stenosis and osteoarthritis and its been recommended that I have an injection. My concern is weight gain or "blowing up" from the steroids. My pain is not bad now that I am on neurontin (another concern too) so if my pain comes back I will consider the injections but a friend of mine had the injections and weight gain was a big issue for her.
Thanks elizabeth
Cortisone injections mimic the effects of steroid hormones on the body. Steroid hormones reduce inflammation in muscles and joints which reduces swelling.
Cortisone injections themselves do not directly harm teeth, but they can have indirect effects on oral health. Cortisone can lead to side effects such as dry mouth, which increases the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Additionally, prolonged use of corticosteroids may weaken the immune system, making it harder for the body to fight infections, including those in the mouth. It's important to maintain good oral hygiene and consult a dentist if you have concerns.
Yes, there can be negative reactions to both cortisone injections and herbal sleeping pills. Cortisone injections may cause side effects such as pain at the injection site, increased blood sugar levels, or potential joint damage with repeated use. Herbal sleeping pills can lead to side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, or allergic reactions, and may interact with other medications. It's essential to consult a healthcare provider before combining these treatments to avoid adverse effects.
Not vary many people experience an allergic reaction to cortisone injections because cortisone is a naturally occurring substance in the body. However, some people do experience side effects such as insomnia, so it is possible.
I can't find anything that lists tinnitus as a result of cortisone. However, after my first shot of cortisone (knees), within 3 days I suddenly had significant tinnitus which has continued now for five weeks. Previously, I was aware that any anti-inflammatory medicine, from aspirin to aleve to celebrex, would cause tinnitus, limiting me to tylenol. However, with the nsaid attempts, when I quit the pills, the tinnitus went away. I'm quite anxious to see if this is going to disappear as the effects of the cortisone do.
When injected into the knee, cortisone acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory medication that helps reduce pain and swelling in conditions like arthritis or tendonitis. It works by suppressing the immune response and decreasing inflammation in the joint, providing relief and improving mobility. The effects can vary, but many patients experience significant pain relief for a period of time, although repeated injections may have diminishing returns or potential side effects.
Steroid injections provide faster relief, but the effects may not be permanent, but the effects of surgery should be more permanent
Side effects of cortisone in dogs may include increased thirst and urination, increased appetite, weight gain, and potential suppression of the immune system. Long-term use of cortisone can also lead to more serious side effects such as diabetes, Cushing's disease, and gastrointestinal issues. It is important to monitor your dog closely and consult with a veterinarian if you notice any concerning side effects.
Side effects of cortisone shots are infection and bleeding, but these are very rare. A cortisone shot avoids the side effects of oral anti-inflammatory medications, such as stomach irritation.
That depends the reason why the cortisone was indicated. If it was for skin disorders, there are some herbal extracts with effects that may mimic cortisone effects: Astragalus Root, Vitex Fruit. In homeopathy you may use Cortisone Aceticum in potency CH30. You should consult a trained holistic veterinarian for the right use of the remedies referred above, see the link below
The administration of cortisone can affect the levels of cortisol in the body by suppressing the body's natural production of cortisol. Cortisone is a synthetic form of cortisol that can mimic its effects, leading to a decrease in the body's own cortisol production.
Using HCG injections are not safe. With injections you carry the risk of getting an infection and there are many bad side effects to using HCG. The side effects include migraines, blood clots, nausea and pregnancy in women.
