The word of wisdom is not a commandment, marijuana is NOT harmful to your body and the word of wisdom is a revelation given to guide members to be healthy.

The only reason that marijuana is against the teachings of the church is that it is not legal everywhere and we believe in keeping the laws of the land.... but then again so is speeding.

How many recommends do you think have been pulled because of people eating too many cheeseburgers? Eating fast food does harm to your body and mind, marijuana does not.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints have approved that all members with in the area of legalization to use medical marijuana with the council of their bishop and the OK from their doctor. It also may not be smoked but consumed.

People looking into getting baptized into the church that use marijuana must first be legally able to use an a interview with the mission president (depending of the mission president).

Of course they have the physical ability to do so, but it is against their religion for more than one reason. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe in "obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law" and marijuana is illegal in many countries, including the United States. Also, Mormons are advised to avoid smoking, harmful or habit forming drugs, and mind-altering substances. In the case of medicinal use of marijuana, it is generally frowned upon within the church, but the decision is left up to the individual.
