It is a government job, and most U.S. government jobs require drug testing. My brother worked as a census taker last summer, and he was very worried about this. We did some internet searches, and they all said yes, you do have to take a drug test to be a census worker. However, my brother did NOT get drug tested for the job. I'm sorry I can't give you a more definitive answer. I guess the best thing to do would be to abstain from drugs for as long as you can before you start work, just in case.

It says nothing about drug screenings, but if you have a previous record for any sort of drug or felony charges then they'll know when they pull up the background check.
