The actual action, the effect of turning purple on your hands, and near joints (in higher doses/abuse) has an actual medical term. That's called vasoconstriction. It happens when higher doses than the body really can take on at one time, or overdose is induced into someone's body. It's a side effect, and a small amount of prescribed amphetamine-based (generic and brand versions of Adderall; both XR-rated and not-XR) turn purple/red in the hands, as their body reacts to it's metabolism.

Of course, there's something to oppose, the effect; help reverse it. In my case, through recreational drug usage of 4-methylmethcathinone (known more popularly as "mephedrone") - a legal substance, and interval dosages (at prescribed amount/rate) of generic-Adderall (instant release, not XR), I had found myself turning purple in the hands, and my veins had become more pronounced, and more visible in the skin.

Mephedrone is considered a cathinone, a phenethylamine, and an amphetamine. I'm cautious by nature to drugs, respect them, and do research for health-related information before enjoying them. 4-methylmethcathinone is fairly new, and synthetic, so hardly any, if any research information has been tested or, perhaps, released to users as to it's psychopharmacology and toxicity reports. I pushed the limits and failed to consider the amount of Adderall use, after the intake of mephedrone, and thereby overdosed, and turned extremely purple with red patches in my hands and knees and other joints, and was rushed to the ER that cold, 4 AM Saturday.

Since then, I have left mephedrone, and still use my Adderall, as prescribed, to help me with my school work. Hot showers help increase blood flow, and can be a short-term treatment. But if you went to the hospital for treatment, or an ER, I'll tell you, the treatment for direct, onsite reaction is a single dose, one pill of valium. That's the chemical diazepam. It is a vasodialator and therefore, it's purpose is to make your veins expand once more.

Please, seek medical advice and attention should your problems really extinuate beyond the bounds by which you are comfortable with, or can handle. When I was admitted, I had uncontrollable shaking in the hands, and it felt off-kilter trying to walk into the ER front room that night. If it gets this bad, even if you think you can gun it, I strongly suggest you go on to get to the hospital/ER. Remember, doctors legally cannot release medical information, as it compromises doctor-patient confidentiality, to the government, and therefore, trust them whole heartedly. Tell them what you took, should it get that bad.

But you should not go over 60g. a day.I don't think it causes nerve damage. I ingested a months supply on a 2day binge. No damage, wasn't very fun either. No, you should be fine.
