Would taking birth control make you fat?

It depends on your body as well as the type of Birth Control you are on. The shot makes some people gain weight, lose weight, have their period for a month, and makes them dizzy. For Others it doesn't. You just have to see what fits you. If its too strong then ask your doctor for a lower dosage.

Yes. I have tried 2 types of birth control and have put on a stone with each of them. Every body is different. I noticed it as i go to the gym and i was on a calorie controlled diet. I had never put on weight before i went on the pill. I consulted my GP and he told me weight gain IS possible.

Research has not shown evidence of weight gain in women using the combined pill. Some women may find that their weight changed throughout their cycle due to retention of fluid.

Some people do gain weight, but not everyone. My doctor warned me that I could gain up to 15lbs - a combination of weight gain and water retention - while on the pill as my body adjusted to the hormones.

I was lucky and didn`t gain weight, so maybe you`ll have the same luck!

nah cuz your avoiding pregnancy so u wont have that baby in ur stomach so u actually dont gain that weight from the baby in u

I've been on Alesse, Yasmin and Marvelon

On both Alesse and Yasmin I didn't have any weight gain, but I gained about 7 pounds on Marvelon.

One of my friends was on Alesse and gained 10 pounds in a few months.

Yasmin gave me chronic yeast infections.

I've heard mainly positive things about Tri-Cyclin from friends, but it could just be a coincidence based on the women i know! Low-risk pills for weight gain are most of the new generation ones, including the ones I mentioned above. You won't know for sure how it will effect your body until you take it!

The depo shot which is a BC in shot form can make you gain weight you have to eat right and stay away from carbohydrates and starchy foods

No, it will make you gain a few pounds though. It's different for each kind though, There's the shot, the patch, the pill and the implant. I have the patch. I gained maybe 3-5 lbs.

yes the hormones cause weight gain. the worst one is the depo provera shot. try a low dose or mini pill if you're concerned
