Patients on chronic oral morphine therapy have been known to take in excess of 3000mg/day with no apparent toxicity.

So it can become assisted suicide in Hospice clients, as can be observed clinically by drowsiness, neurological impacts, and labored breathing. Medical marijuana would be a better option and finding natural painkillers that enhance the end of life experience, without destroying the quality of life, or whatever life is left in a terminally ill person. I have observed on many occassions that the morphine is unable to control the pain, however this is not well documented because this fact is covered up, probably by investors.

The amount of morphine depends on the individual. If the user has built up a tolerance to morphine then the amount will be much higher compared to a first time user.
