Yes, some doctors have prescribed Effexor (venlafaxine) off-label for managing hot flashes, particularly in menopausal women. It is an antidepressant that has been found to help reduce the frequency and severity of hot flashes. This use is often considered for patients who may not be suitable candidates for hormone replacement therapy. Always consult a healthcare professional for personalized medical advice.
If the doctor prescribed it and you are getting ongoing medical checkups.
If you suffer from social anxiety and depression and are feeling tired a lot you should speak with your doctor. Only a doctor can advise what is safe to take with your Effexor for tiredness.
Yes, it can, although it is not a common side effect. For my high cholesterol (I am male), I was prescribed Simvastatin (Zocor). Each time I took the prescribed dose, I had severe hot flashes. I stopped taking that statin and the hot flashes immediately stopped. Later, I was prescribed Lipitor. As with the Simvastatin, I had severe hot flashes. I was told by my doctor that this is a known, though not very common side effect of some statins. After those experiences, I was prescribed Livalo (another statin). She said this should be much less likely to cause the hot flashes. After a month on the Livalo, I have no noticeable side effects. If you're having night flashes taking Lipitor, I would suggest asking your doctor if another type of statin would be appropriate for your needs and be less likely to cause the hot flashes.

Ask a nurse, or doctor,

As much as it takes to kill you. That amount will always be fatal.
While some individuals may be prescribed benzodiazepines alongside Effexor (venlafaxine) for extreme anxiety, this approach should be closely monitored by a healthcare provider. Effexor is an antidepressant that can help alleviate anxiety over time, but benzodiazepines may be used for short-term relief of acute symptoms. It's important to discuss all treatment options and potential risks with a doctor to determine the most appropriate plan for your specific situation.
my doctor just gave it to me for my hot flashes hope it workd
There's a generic form of Effexor XR but it is in a tablet, NOT a capsule. Ask your doctor about whether it will affect you differently.
