Klonopin (clonazepam) is a long acting benodiazepine with approximately a 40 hour half-life. The brain gradually adapts to chronic use until any sudden reduction in dosage causes an uncomfortable and possibly dangerous (chance of convulsions) withdrawal syndrome. The safest way to stop is to gradually reduce the dosage over time, perhaps several months or more. You can get pretty accurate progressively smaller doses by carefully cutting the pills with a razor blade or very sharp knife. Reduce by about 1/4 to 1/3 of the daily dose and stay on the reduced dose until the mild withdrawal feelings have passed, then reduce again. If you are very uncomfortable after a few days on less, then increase a bit for a day or two before continuing to drop the dose. You really need to play this by "feel" and be flexible. Just keep the goal in mind and reduce gradually and you will get there with minimal discomfort. I've found that, done properly, I actually felt more energetic some days without any noticeable increase in anxiety. When you're down to the smallest dose you can get a reasonably accurate sized piece of by cutting, gradually increase the number of days between doses. After a few weeks you'll probably forget to take it one day and realize the next day that you feel OK. Congratulations, you've quit!

I am assuming you mean Clonazepam. Go see your doctor. Don't try to get off any drug by yourself. A doctor will very slowly taper your dose down over weeks. Getting off a drug that is addictive must be done very carefully. Some people have to be hospitalized because they try to stop taking it themselves. Your body has to get use to not having the drug very slowly or it can be a shock to the system. This advice is for any one who is on any medication and who wants to stop taking it. A doctor is essential. Especially if a person has been abusing the drug. One could die because of the withdrawal. The same is true for alcoholics. They should never stop or even try to stop drinking with out a Doctor helping them. Alcoholics die each year because of withdrawal. See a Doctor.
