I was on 20 mg of Lexapro for 6ish months. My psyciatrist said I could taper down to 10 for one week and then stop. I did this recently and 3 days later I now have typical lexapro withdrawl symptoms such as aches and pains and nausea and insomnia etc. It has been 4 days since I stopped the Lexapro and I am in a lot of discomfort that the pharmasist told me could last up to 2 weeks. Could this be done easier? For example, should I take 5 or 10 mg for ? amount of time. Was 1 week down 10 mg from 20 mg and then stopping too much reduction too fast? The lowest dose and fastest cessation is ideal, but I am having trouble functioning when I feel so bad physically. I would ask my psyciatrist but she is on vacation and will not be back for 2 weeks. What should I do? Please help! Thank you, Rinner/Corinne
My doctor actually put me on .05 mg of Lorazapam and 20 mg of Lexapro at night. and I take Lorazapam in the morning same dose.
Lexapro was developed by isolating the active component of Celexa® (citalopram HBr). Lexapro (Brand Name) is also known as escitalopram oxalate.
I switched from 10mg lexapro to 30 mg cymbalta for 2 wk and then 60 mg. Have had good results. For one thing I quit gaining weight, as I did on lexapro. Cymbalta also helped my muscle aches and pains as an added plus.
To taper off 10 mg of Lexapro (escitalopram) after a year of use, it's essential to consult your doctor for a personalized plan. Typically, a gradual reduction is recommended, often decreasing the dose by 5 mg or less over several weeks to minimize withdrawal symptoms. Monitoring your mental health during this process is crucial, as you may experience changes in mood or anxiety levels. Always follow your healthcare provider's advice to ensure a safe and effective discontinuation.
I have taken them together and survived. 20 mg Lexapro with 5 mg Vicodin and 3 pints of beer. My doctor said the Lexapro and Vicodin are ok together as long as it is supervised and within the recommended dosage. The beer, probably not ok.
Not unless you are a chemist or physician and know what and why you are doing so.
it can be very affective base off of your level of anxity
Yes there is. I only took one Lexapro and that was it. I have not been myself for over a month, not much improvement. Please ask your doctor to taper anyways.
I certainly hope so! My doctor has me on 30 MG Vyvanse + 20 MG Celexa each day.

I'm currently trying to get off of Lexapro. I've been taking 10-20 mg for the past 5 yrs. I haven't experienced the noises, but certainly the sensation of swishing when turning my head side to side, as well as the vertigo/dizziness. Many other people cite the same sensations as this when withdrawing from Lexapro.
well, first off IT CAN KILL YOU !!!!!!!
