Unlike other antidepressants, Prozac has a long half-life so it stays in your system for a while, even after you stop taking it-- it's slowly eliminated from your system so you don't really suffer a dramatic withdrawl. However, as with all antidepressants, you should cut back before stopping. So if you take 40 mg a day, start taking 20 a day for two weeks. Then take 20 every OTHER day for two weeks. Then you can stop completely.
