It will show up as an opiate on a urine drug screen. Suboxone is composed of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is a mixed opioid agonist-antagonist and naloxone is a pure opioid antagonist.

Suboxone is changed into a chemical called norbuprenorphine by the liver, and norbuprenorphine is the chemical that is tested for on urine drug tests.

Urine drug tox screens also check for suboxone that has not been changed into norbuprenorphine. This happens when someone who is supposed to be taking their suboxone is not taking it, but rather diverting it, or selling it on the street, and they think they can fool the drug test and the people in their treatment program by putting a little bit of suboxone in the urine cup. The urine test will show that this is the unchanged suboxone, that hasn't gone through the liver, and the treatment providers will know that the "patient" is trying to scam them.

It will show as an opiate. even though they have opiate blocker's in it to prevent you from getting "high". The opiate effect will stop the severe withdrawal's. it still helps in the same way for pain. only bad thing; Not a miracle drug. you will be dependant on it Physically, and cannot stop suddenly, or you will still go though the same kind of Opiate withdrawal.

Speaking from personal experience, because I was on Saboxone and Subutex for over 6 years, it does not show up as an opiate on a typical "panel" drug screen. However, they now have a test that tests specifically for buprenorphine (the medicine in both Suboxone & Subutex) (both have the same amount of Buprenorphne 8mg) the only difference between the 2 is that Suboxone has 2

mg of Naloxone which is only an opiate antagonist when injected, not taken sublingual (as directed) or snorted, like I did. I could still do oxys right after snortign my Suboxone and still feel even more high than just from the Sub. Here's where I have to preach, both of the medicines are HORRIBLE to withdraw from! The worst of anything I have ever quit, including methadone, oxys, tabs, benzos, coke & crack, even Heroin! I quit cold turkey 4 times and was sick everyday for at least 3 -4 weeks, full on flu symptoms, stomach hurt, diarrhes, leg shakes, couldn't sleep for days, back felt like it was breaking in half, no energy, sneezing a million times a day, peeing every 2 minutes! But i got pregnant w/ my daughter who is 15 months now and i went to a good clinic the cared about me & my baby, not the money, and I weaned down and got clean, for good! i feel great now, took about a month to get my energy back thou. Suboxone has two main active ingredients, naloxone and buprenorphine. Most standard 5 and even 7-panel drug screens do not detect buprenorphine which is usually the chemical looked for in a drug screen. Specialized drug screens can be ordered to test for buprenorphine and most labs will look for it. When going through suboxone treatment, my counselor used a standard 5-panel screen every week with one extra panel for buprenorphine.
