There have been many randomized studies over the years to try and prevent heroin overdosing as it is a common problem but preventable. Providing family and/or peers with Naxolone and education surrounding it's use can prevent overdosing. Having education groups, family support groups and supervised injecting rooms for users can all lead to decreasing mortality rates with this deadly addiction.
