Hello and thank you for your information. I am going through withdrawal as we speak and it's been pretty rough. The withdrawals started on Friday the 21st of November and it is now the 24 of November. Today is the first day I am starting to feel better. I am in severe pain but thanks to my pharmicist I am withdrawing. I knew I was addicted, absolutely. I have tried every other pain meds for my back (it has been a severe injury where correctional surgery can not be preformed, a 2500 pound Clydesdale horse flipped upside down on top of me, went into convulsions, kicking me all over including my head with his metal shoes, I nearly died) to no avail. The hydrocodone or vicoprophen is the only one that touches this pain. I was prescribed to take 1 every 4 hours for pain. I have ended up taking 4 at a time every 6 hours. Way too much, I know. So here I am, hurting badly in my back but withdrawing from the narcotic. Looking back at this, it hasn't been the worse thing Ive done in my life. To the best of my knowledge (and I'm not a doctor, though I have some experience in the matter) the worst of it should be over in about two weeks (possibly four or five days), though I suppose that depends on how high of usage you have maintained and for how long. You should be more or less completely over the withdrawals in a month or so. It's not a fun experience though.

There's also the taper off approach but that really only helps if you have access to more hydrocodone (or any other opiate). However in most cases if you had access to more you wouldn't be in withdrawals in the first place.

If the above suggestions aren't an option then being miserable for a while until it does subside is your best bet.

It usually takes 20 - 30 minutes for hydrocone (and similar drugs) to make its way through the blood stream enough to start experiencing some relief of pain.

It has a 3.8 to 6 hour half life. I have never "felt" it longer than 2 hours or so.
