weed generally takes up to 10days, depending on light, humidity, air flow etc, the more airflow and heat the quicker the weed will dry, the cooler and more humid the air is the longer it will take to dry.

You dry it for as long as neccessary. Too dry is indicated by crumbly buds.

It depends upon the type and method of growth.

Hydro can be dried for a very long time, but it will go hard and become crumbly if too dry. Leads to a powder when chopped out.

Bush will dry quickly as the buds are not as compacted. Again, will powder if too dry.

You don't want to dry it in the sun tho, as you will lose the THC, which is why you are drying it out, to get it to an easy state to ingest.

Once the buds feel stiff, firm and scratchy, they are dry enough.

Basically, you could smoke it straight away after picking it, however, it will not burn very easily due to the moisture content and also steam will be created as the moisture evaporates, which is not neccessarily favourable.

You dry it to get rid of the moisture, but not so much as to lose all cohesiveness within the bud, as that means your THC is gone :(

Best thing to do is read up a growing guide and see what methods are employed to grow, plus the drying time/methods there.

Alternatively, wet bud will work wonderfully in a vaporizer (does not burn it, simply heats it to produce VAPOUR, rather than SMOKE (<-- contains carcinogens which cause illnesses), which is favourable for some health conscious individuals.

It depends on how you pack it, but if you pack it hermetically then the weed can stay fresh for up to 6 months
