Spike protein, produced during an infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus or through vaccination, does not stay in the body for an extended period. After vaccination, the spike protein is typically present for a few days as the immune system responds, while in natural infections, it may be present for a longer duration, depending on the severity of the disease. Generally, the body breaks down and clears the spike protein relatively quickly, usually within a week or two. However, the immune response generated against it can last much longer.
