Normal dosage is generally 10mg. It's difficult to tell you a max dosage because I don't know your age, your body, your fitness level, and your tolerance to this medication, and any other meds you are currently taking.

You can take one ambien and easily trip. I don't think it matters how many you take, its black and white, either you trip or don't. If you don't trip and take another one you most likely still will not trip. I suggest take one, if it works then it works and if it doesn't, just take one tomorrow because otherwise you will just waste it. In my experience taking more then one ambien wont make you trip as long as the first one didn't. Even if you take one and it did work, more will not increase the tripping effect. In my experience I trip the days where I haven't taken any ambien in a few days to a week or even more. Also don't abuse ambien, you won't trip and you will just be wasting the pill... and severe side effects could occur.

Yes, although makers of the drug would probably warn against it. Taken by itself, 20 mg of Ambien doesn't pose any danger (don't take it with alcohol!) terms of toxicity. However, Ambien is a potent drug and 20 mg is a sufficient dose to bring about strong euphoric, sedative, amnestic, anxiolytic, and even hallucinogenic effects. Basically, yeah you're good just don't try and drive or anything. I recommend watching Beavis and Butthead (my personal favorite when enjoying the effects of Ambien).
