it really depends on if your opiate tolerant or not. Whether or not your trying to get high or for pain relief or getting off of drugs. I just started methadone maintence for a opiate dependency(medical reasons 2 fractures in my sternum ) the DR started me at 20mg for the first hour it was more of a warm everything is ok and motivated to do things kind of feelings. it is supposed to be at its peak at 3 to 5 hours but to answer your question no 10 mg is really not enough 20 mg is ok for me and i was taking around 120 mg of oxycondone a day and about 75 mgs of morphine a day. 70 mg's of methadone is considered an average dose of methadone. The normal "blocking dose", which is the dose that stops cravings in people, is usually around 80 mg's. BUT, 70 mg's is considered a lot of methadone in the medical field, it is only because most opiate addicts are so tolerant that 70 mg's is considered normal. My father takes 40 mg's a day for Back pain from work, and his doctor thinks that is too much. SO it all depends on who you ask and for what purpose you are using methadone. A person at a methadone clinic will tell you it is not a lot, while a doctor that treats pain may say it is a lot.

Firstly, methadone does not CAUSE vomiting. If you vomit after you take methadone then it is probably because you took it too early in the morning or when you haven't eaten. You also could gag from the bad taste which could make you spit up a little. But methadone does not cause vomiting. Make sure you eat something before dosing or you give some time after you wake up and let your stomach settle. Remember also that coffee can upset your stomach in the morning so mixing methadone and coffee is not the best thing if you experience vomiting after you take methadone.
