No, considering the fact that Morphine is more synthetic. It would make you more addicted even though you would take less. I am on both morphine and vicadin, and trying to taper with 11 pills left total, and don't see any possible way. Methadone would be your best bet since it is a opiate blocker, and can keep the withdrawal symptoms at bay for 24-36 hours. The worst part for me is the not sleeping and pain magnefying.

Has morphine tablets ever been used to help someone taper off of hydrocodone?

Probably, but the drug of choice is Suboxone, in a clinical detox setting.Absolutely not. Morphine is far more addictive than hydrocodone could dream of being. It won't taper you off of any narcotic. It will make you far more addicted. Even though they are two totally different drugs, they still bond to the same receptors in your brain so you will still be narcotic addicted. If you are talking in terms of a taper then you would use hydro to taper off of hydro.

Vicodin confused with morphine?

Vicodin (hydrocodone) and morphine are similar chemicals used for nearly the same purpose--relief of pain. Hydrocodone is slightly less efficacious (strong) than morphine is, and is typically combined with acetaminophen. This mixture makes it more easier for a doctor to prescribe than morphine due to its scheduling by the DEA (C-III -vs- C-II). There are efforts to make ANY medication with hydrocodone in it C-II.

Will perocet and hydrocodone both show up as opiate's?

Yes, Also the standard drug screen for opiates looks specifically for the presence of either morphine or codeine. And will detect the presence of oxycodone as it cross-reacts with morphine in these tests. But oxycodone does NOT break down into either morphine or codeine. Hydrocodone may not cause a positive result in a standard opiate urine test (hydrocodone does not break down into morphine, and is therefore not detected by these tests). But many will detect hydrocodone (and hydromorphone, which it breaks down into). So for both test results will depend on the particular type of test that is used (new drug test detect synthetic opiates).
