I myself have experimented with two types of illicit drugs, bound illegal in Australia. Ecstasy is one of the two forms, in my case of multiple experimentation periods of the drug in both a safe environment (home) and unsafe environments (city) with friends on all occasions, I have found that the drug, in non excessive use (only experimenting with the drug once every month or two months with up to 3 - 7 pills) having no long term impact. In saying that, it is very known in the drug industry to effect everyone differently, whether it be short term impacts or long term impacts.
