Is it safe to Ambien every night?

I think many people forget that most prescriptions are chemicals that of course can alter certain bodily functions. I switched from Ambien to Lunesta because I felt like I had amnesia when I woke. Lunesta just does nothing for my sleep so I switched back. I have sleep apenea and can't seem to get to sleep with the mask on without taking something. So back to the question, I think if you start to notice changes like morning amnesia, or forgetfulness throughout the day you might want to re-evaluate what meds your are taking. Not getting the right kind of sleep is the worst.

if prescribed a certain dose for insomnia yes, but otherwise no, they can do weird stuff, like you could start tripping out, go sleep walking down the road etc.

they're a temporary hard hitting fix while you and your DR can sort out a better option

It depends... First of all if you take more than 1 CR per night, it will not in anyway harm you. The instructions say to take 1 before going to bed, but I have had personal experiences in which I woke up in the middle of the night after taking the 1 CR. I took another and I was fine. Woke up feeling rested, without and grogginess or lethargy. I would take another if you can't fall asleep with just 1CR. Also, remember that the CR's come in 6.25mg and 12.5 mg. Taking 2 6.25 mg CR's =taking 1 12.5 mg CR. This is not a big deal. If in need, take another, and get some rest!
