By taking it only once a day, not only are you not going to receive good pain control; it will be much harder and alot more damaging to your body than taking them twice a day as directed. You really need to discuss this with your doctor asap!! Oxycontin should only ever be given for long term use as that is what it was made for. You may find that immediate release oxycodone a better choice for you!

Both are opiates. If you are legally prescribed them, it will not matter whether they show up on a drug test. If you're not, you'll test positive for opiates either way, and in this case it's best to taper off before your drug test. Taper, or the withdrawals will suck.
