Unfortunately, there are not currently any medications available to prevent poison ivy symptoms from occurring, although there are several studies in progress to develop such a medication. One of the things I have seen recommended (with varying results) is to take Vitamin C (1,000-4,000 mg hourly) before exposure to poison ivy. Before taking any new medication and/or supplement, consult with your doctor first.

Most medicine is harmful if you take too much, or take it when you don't need it. One very poisonous medicine is Coumadin or warfarin - that is one of the ingredients in most rat poisons because it makes them start bleeding and they bleed to death

Sicknesses are usually considered ailments that are temporary, but allergies are permanent. If you have an allergy to say, bananas, then you aren't going to be able to have bananas. If you have a sickness that will not let you eat bananas while you have it, then you can take medicine and be able to eat them again. Does that help?
Absolutely not. It is for a specific person based on that person's medical history, allergies, symptoms.

Some Pentecostal denominations/groups do not believe in taking medicine, and some do. Not all of them have the same belief about the use of medicine.
