I smoked weed for about 15 years, then stopped, because my dealer went to jail, and never started again. I have been drug and alcohol free since January, and I have no plans to start again. I noticed no long term effects; when I stopped smoking, my short term memory slowly came back, I had more energy (sitting around and watching streaming movies all day isn't fun unless you're baked), my artist's block went away, so now, instead of watching movies, I'm writing stories to animate; I now have the desire to go back to school, and the ambition as well...

From a long term user, pot does not kill your brain cells, it just slows things down, and once you've been about a month without smoking, you're back to the way you were before you started. It is also NOT physically addictive, contrary to popular belief, although you can develop a psychological dependence, but I could quit smoking pot, I can't quit smoking cigarettes. If that's your thing, great, I just kind of outgrew it. And my dealer was in jail for 3 months, I couldn't find a backup... that really kicked me into quitting.
