Very few. Lexapro's half-life is 27-32 hours. Meaning the last dose taken is not eliminated to that level for over a complete day. In other words if they were screening for lexapro at the hospital in your UA, they would detect it 2 days later.

On the flip side,.. the levels have dropped tremendously -- So you would probably start to feel the beginnings of discontinuation syndrome..aka "Withdrawal". Which is anything from Anxiety, agitation to 'brain zaps'.

But the ultimate advice and answer here is A) - Don't discontinue your medications if you feel 'fine'.. just because you think you don't need them anymore. (No insinuation, just for any reading this).. and

B) If you have missed a day or two of Lexapro, simply take your next scheduled dose. You will be back to "normal" in no time.

Do you have to wean off lexapro or can you just stop taking it - i am on 20 mg. a day?

It's generally recommended to wean off Lexapro (escitalopram) rather than stopping it abruptly, as doing so can lead to withdrawal symptoms or a return of anxiety or depression. Tapering the dosage gradually under a doctor's supervision can help minimize these risks. Always consult your healthcare provider before making any changes to your medication regimen.

Is having a mild anxiety OK when going down from 20mg to 15mg of Lexapro. Or is it a bad sign and I should go up again?

Lexapro is supposed to aid you in feeling less anxious, so if you feel more anxious when lowering dosage, even slightly, you may want to discuss that with your doctor, and if it persists he or she will most likely increase your dosage back to 20 mgs.

Lexapro 10 mg enough to start up with?

10 is a reasonable amount. If you start with too much sometimes it makes you even worse. I've been through that with Lexapro already. Seriously, low dosage and work your way up. It pays off. 10 is a reasonable amount. If you start with too much sometimes it makes you even worse. I've been through that with Lexapro already. Seriously, low dosage and work your way up. Can Cymbalta be taken with lexapro without developing serotonin syndrome?

I wouldn't suggest it at all. Just from personal experience, I developed a moderate case of serotonin syndrome while weening myself off Lexapro to switch to Cymbalta. Had I taken my regular dosage of Lexapro (20mg) with the 20mg of Cymbalta, I probably would have ended up in the ER.

Why take Lexapro 200mg?

Lexapro (escitalopram) is an antidepressant commonly prescribed to treat anxiety and major depressive disorder. However, a typical maximum dosage for adults is usually up to 20 mg per day, not 200 mg. If someone is considering or has been prescribed a high dosage, it's crucial to consult a healthcare professional for guidance, as this could indicate a specific treatment plan or adjustment that requires careful monitoring. Always follow a doctor's recommendations regarding medication dosage.
