I am on Methadone for RA and I only take 10 mg 3 times a day plus they have me on 300 mg seroquel for sleeping problems I want to stop the seroquel because I notice that when I take the seroquel it first makes me really out of it but now I am feeling like I can not swollow, I get really scared and I am freaking myself out that is why I want to stop the medication but I am affraid of the withdrawl problems can anyone tell me what they are and if maybe I should not stop all meds at once I really need someone to help answer this I am at a lost of what to do Thank you guys for your time!!! Methadone withdrawal is long and uncomfortable, and I would recommend medical support, you need to tell a doctor and let them help you. I have been on methadone for 5 years, and I have swallowing difficulties too. I've had an EGD, where they look down your throat with a scope. Nothing was wrong, and since I had equal trouble swallowing solid food and liquids, they told me I had a problem with the esophageal muscles coordinating swallowing, meaning there was not much they could do for me. If you read ALL the side effects of methadone, in a Physician's Desk Reference, it does mention muscle problems. Although this is my opinion only, but I never had trouble swallowing before the methadone.

How soon after stopping methadone will your Dilaudid work?

After stopping methadone, it can take several days for the effects of Dilaudid (hydromorphone) to be felt effectively. Methadone has a long half-life, and its effects can linger in the body, potentially diminishing the effectiveness of Dilaudid initially. Typically, individuals may begin to notice the effects of Dilaudid within 24 to 48 hours after the last dose of methadone, but this can vary based on individual metabolism and the duration of methadone use. Always consult a healthcare professional for guidance tailored to your specific situation.
