Hello, my name is Cynthia and I have been treated with Occipital nerve Blocks for over a year now. The worst side effect I can think of is having the yellow betedine on my neck the next day. It's difficult to wash off. I have no pain...maybe a little soreness but mostly great relief from the tremendous pain I suffer with on a daily basis. I also have Botox type "B" injections, but they make me sick the day after...flu feeling.
what are the side effects of clipping the occipital ner e
I don't know the answer to your question but I just had an occipital nerve block today. They used freeze spray before poking me and it still hurt like hell. There is a horrible pressure and pinching as they stick in the numbing stuff. I am now 4 hours out from having it. I am very sore and can barely turn my head from side to side. I did it because I've had a headache for about 7 days now. My doctor will not prescribe pain meds so I'm basically forced to try things that hurt like heck. Hope yours goes better than mine.

As with most surgeries there is always the risk of infection and side effects from the anesthesia. Bruising and bleeding are very common followed by scarring and the possibility of nerve damage.
Damage to the spinal nerve roots can lead to pain, numbness, weakness, and paresthesia (abnormal sensations in the absence of stimuli) in the limbs or trunk.
Potential side effects of nitrous oxide include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and headaches. In rare cases, it can cause more serious side effects such as difficulty breathing, allergic reactions, and nerve damage. It is important to use nitrous oxide under the supervision of a trained healthcare professional to minimize the risk of these side effects.
