The type of anesthesia that anesthesiologists use in a hospital setting depends on the type of injury. Three types of anesthesia used are local, regional, and general anesthesia.
There are three types of anesthesia: local, regional, and general. Local anesthesia is used to numb a small area of the body, regional anesthesia is used to numb a large area of the body such as an arm or leg, and general anesthesia affects the entire body.
For bladder surgery, general anesthesia is commonly used to ensure the patient is completely unconscious and pain-free during the procedure. In some cases, regional anesthesia, such as spinal or epidural anesthesia, may be employed to numb the lower body while the patient remains awake or sedated. The choice of anesthesia often depends on the specific procedure, the patient's health, and the surgeon's preference.
