What happens if you forgot to refrigerate Cephalexin?

Cefzil loses potency if it is not refrigerated. If such Cefzil is used, your child will not receive the the quantity of antibiotic that was prescribed. Consult your health care provider to see if a make-up prescription is needed for your child.

If you are talking about the liquid formulation, it will go bad very quickly. It will survive being left out over night at room temperature, but if a 24 hour period has passed, it needs to be thrown away as the cephalexin (which is the correct spelling) slowly becomes hydrolyzed by water, and later destroyed.

Nothing, Keflex (brand name) Cephalixin (generic) is anti-biotic and unless it's a liquid (and even then it would say on the bottle if it needs to be refrigerated) they usually don't need to be refrigerated.

It is typically okay if Cephalexin oral suspension has been out of refrigeration for a short period of time, like 7.5 hours. If the suspension has been room temperature for more than 24 hours, it should be discarded.
