What does a capsule do and how does it function within the context of its intended purpose?

A capsule is a small container that holds medication or supplements. It functions by enclosing the active ingredients in a protective shell, which helps deliver the contents to the intended target in the body. The capsule dissolves in the digestive system, releasing the contents for absorption into the bloodstream, where they can have their intended effect.

Is it safe to take Zoloft and focalin at the same time?

Probably, but why take these two together? In other words, on my Ritalin information sheet, it says not to take zoloft (that's sertraline, right?) with it. Yet, my doctor prescribed it and apparently, doctors (generally) seem to love to prescribe zoloft with stimulants. But many of us have found that zoloft cancels the uplifting effects (for example, in the case of Ritalin with zoloft). I have never tried zoloft with Provigil, which is not a stimulant per se. Per my experience, I can't see why you would need an anti-depressant with Provigil, which for me, was very mood uplifting. But that's me, and I am more in the anxiety and ADD/HD category than depression. Upshot: I will never try zoloft again, period!. But if you really love zoloft, maybe try the combo after reading the contraindications first, and/or asking a psy-doctor or neurologist.

What would a capsule not dissolve?

A capsule may not dissolve if it is made of a material that is resistant to the conditions present in the stomach or if it is specifically designed to release its contents in a different part of the digestive system. Additionally, incorrect storage or expiration can also cause capsules to not dissolve as intended.

Can you empty the powder from the capsule and put it in a drink?

It is not recommended to break open capsules and consume their contents in a drink unless advised by a healthcare professional. The capsule is designed to protect the ingredients from stomach acid and to ensure accurate dosing. Mixing capsule contents with a drink may alter the intended absorption and may also affect the taste and effectiveness of the supplement.
