If you are referring to Bag Balm, it is a type of ointment used to prevent chapping and chaffing of cow's udders. It also is used to soften skin or to soothe cracks on your hands from harsh winter weather. I've been using it for years. Amazon has it, grain or agricultural stores like Agway, etc. Hope this helps.
Hydrocortizone cream is safe to put on a shingles rash. You can also get prescription Lidocane from you doctor to apply. Avoid Benadryl as it can cause the rash to worsen in some people. Also avoid Bagbalm as it causes a burning sensation.
Nothing, you must keep it clean. There is no substance that will prevent diaper rash. Keeping the baby's bottom clean is ESSENTIAL!Add - While keeping a baby clean and dryis the best course of action, some children (like my daughter) have extremely sensitive skin aka she'd break out in a rash if I touched her skin.My pediatrician gave me Triamcinalone for when the breakouts were bad and advised a layer of Bagbalm on her but at changings.Bagbalm can be found at Walmart in the pharmacy section.
Without actually seeing it or having any more info...it could possibly be a hemorrhoid. They can protrude from the rectal area. My grandmother once told me that doctors used to "burn them out," I'm assuming cauterization was used, doesn't sound like it was very comfortable. I've also heard old time remedies such as that doctors would "tie them off" or use a rubberband around them to cut off circulation and rid the person of the problem. Sometimes, in present day, surgery might be used to tuck them back into the body so they don't protrude and cause irritation. They are caused by lack of fiber in the diet a lot of the time, (because a person has to push and strain a lot while emptying the bowels,) but heavy lifting can cause them as well (I have know a lot of people that have had that problem due to the nature of their job & the heavy lifting.) Wiping too vigorously can cause more inflammation as well. That is what it sounds like it might be but it would be prudent for you or your loved one to have a doctor take a look at it anyway. In the meantime, the person with this problem should up his or her fiber intake to keep stools soft. I know there are OTC remedies for hemorrhoids but these will only treat the symptoms and not the main problem. Definitely go see a doctor, though, to make sure that there isn't any other underlying problem. The sooner the better. In the meantime; go to a health food store: Whole Foods Market or Trader Joe's both probably carry this product-it's a cream with natural substances instead of a lot of chemicals. It works really well and will not cause irritation (as the product advertised on TV does.) As long as no one is allergic to the plant extracts in the cream. So read the label first. And see the doctor!! Or nurse practitioner...whichever you prefer. Good luck with this problem. It is no picnic to deal with. Oh, and a P.S.) If you or the person with this problem has a job where you need to sit a lot, get one of those donuts that pharmacies sell; they help out quite a bit to keep pressure off of that area.
It looks red with smaller red bumps on it the skin would be stiff and sore. If you think you have shingles do not share a bed with anyone, do not use the same shower and bathtub until two weeks after you are declared clean by a doctor. Do not share towles blankets ar clothes it is contagious. And if you think you have shingles call your doctor for an appointment.Tay Tay Rules
