Xanax is more powerful. Zoloft is meant for people who should not take xanax, because they have a history of abusing drugs.
Discuss this with your doctor.

Your doctor may switch you from Xanax to Zoloft and Valium to better manage anxiety or depression while minimizing the risk of dependence associated with Xanax, which is a short-acting benzodiazepine. Zoloft, an SSRI, can help address underlying mood disorders, while Valium, another benzodiazepine, may be prescribed for immediate relief of acute anxiety symptoms. This combination can provide a more balanced long-term treatment approach, addressing both immediate and chronic symptoms. Always consult with your doctor for personalized medical advice.
Yes, you can. As a matter of fact, my Dr. prescribed me Xanax solely for this purpose. I was on 150mg Effexor XR, and switched to Zoloft. The Xanax was to be used while tapering down the Effexor and then ramping up the Zoloft. The Xanax was a lifesaver dealing with increased anxiety while going through the Effexor withdrawal and waiting for the Zoloft to "kick in". Talk to your Dr., as I'm not one, but I think you'd be fine using the Xanax as a very temporary aid while going through the withdrawal.
yes just less powerful 4mg xanax = 4mg colonipin
