What is the difference between Tylenol and codeine?

Tylenol is just the over the counter pain reliever. Whereas the Tylenol with codeine is that same plus a low dose of codeine which is a low level opiate, similar to a percacet but a much lower dose. The codeine can get you high but unless properly extracted from the Tylenol cab be fatal on the liver when used in excess

Oxycodone is available in several formulations, some only contain oxycodone like Oxy-IR, some contain oxycodone and acetaminophen (Tylenol) like Percocet, some contain oxycodone and aspirin like Percodan, oxycodone also comes in an extended-release formulation under the brand name OxyContin, and although uncommon oxycodone comes in a combination with ibuprofen such as the brand name Combunox. The most commonly prescribed form of oxycodone is the combination of oxycodone/acetaminophen. In fact it is one of the most prescribed medications in North America. The reason oxycodone and acetaminophen are combined is because it provides greater pain relief than either one drug would provide and (in theory, but typically not in practice) the addition of acetaminophen was intended to detur misue of the medication.

Oxycodone is a synthetic form of codeine which is much more potent. It can be prescribed with or without Tylenol (acetaminophen). It is not the same as codeine, but has the same effect on the body, being analgesia, drowsiness, cough suppression, etc.
