What is the difference between a joint and a blunt?

The difference between a joint and a blunt origionally was that a joint is rolled using standard rolling papers and a blunt is a cigar that has had the tobacco removed and replaced with marijuana. Naturally that would mean that a blunt is larger. But within the last 2 years or so.But anytime people who have no idea what they are talking about open their mouths the two had also been used to mean the same thing. However, a blunt is usually used this way to mean simply an item that of marijuana intended to be smoked as a joint also is. I have never heard it in the reverse way as in to mean that a joint would be an item referring to a blunt.

As is often the case with our language, meanings can change with time, generations, locations, and slangs so there's always the chance that I may not be EXACTLY right on every specific detail, but that's the gist. How's that?

I'm with this guy, but its just the INCORRECT people who confuse the 2. Joints are rolled from white rolling papers. Blunts or "L's", as they are often called are ONLY rolled from a cigar etc....^like he said^ the only thing i see ppl grouping together are the term 'joint' and 'marijuana cigarette'. @ least both of them look alike, being constructed of white paper. Blunts are always brown or green, depending on the cigar (or wrap) color.

you can usually fit more green in a blunt than a joint, but really theyre about the same. the main difference, aside from size (and depending on how its rolled this can be eliminated), is rolling technique. blunts are rolled, but the process of rolling a good jay is more like folding.
