What is the physical and mental responses of marijuana?

Hallucinogenics typically affect respiratory(breathing) and heart (pulse).

These types of drugs are harmful in short term use (recreational) and long term use (addiction)

mental responses tend to vary with each hallucinogen but if you are talking about the actual brains response then it is classified as physiological.

Physiologically a persons brain will go haywire after long term use, producing less or more of chemicals which are produced regularly, producing the wrong chemicals at wrong times, interfering with sleep, eating, eventually through long term use the heart and lungs start to suffer as well, because it becomes increasingly harder to function under the influence of these drugs, typically ending in Cardiac Arrest or Respiratory Failure.

The physical consequences are that smoking marijuana can cause lung, mouth, or throat cancer. That's about it.

As for psychological consequences: chronic marijuana users usually suffer from short-term memory problems, but this usually clears up once the person has permanently quit using.

Inexperienced marijuana users can suffer paranoia and extreme anxiety (the slang term for this is, "the whites"), but this will be gone once the high is gone. Experienced marijuana users don't suffer from paranoia and anxiety, because they are perfectly accustomed to the drug's effects.

However, heavy, chronic users (meaning, people who smoke weed all day long, from the moment they get up until they go to bed) usually lack ambition, have impaired cognitive functions (they have trouble thinking deep and complex thoughts, and they have very poor memories), and are just generally lazy and apathetic.

It is unclear how much of this is a direct effect of the drug, and how much is due to underlying psychological problems like depression. Depression makes you apathetic and lazy, and depressed people are more likely to use illegal drugs, as a method of self-medication (in other words, instead of taking antidepressants, they smoke weed or snort cocaine instead).

Marijuana will definitely not help your depression. In fact, smoking weed all day long (as opposed to a few times a week, or just a few hits every night, right before bed) will undoubtedly make your depression worse. It will cause you to focus and obsess over bad thoughts. Also, as stated, it will make you apathetic and lazy. Then you will feel even worse about yourself, knowing that you are apathetic and lazy.

The physical response is you feel light headed and not vary balanced every things kind of slow and you cant react as fast as you would if you were not high. You mental responses would be slow and less recitative as well.
