Whether or not Marijuana is addictive, either psychologically or physically, is a matter of some debate. Is is most certainly habituating. But this isn't a question about it's addictive qualities, it's a question about side effects:

"Bad" Marijuana Side Effects:

  • Short-term memory loss
  • Increased tolerance (requires more of the drug to get the same effect)
  • Sleepiness
  • Difficulty keeping track of time
  • Lessened concentration
  • Increased reaction time
  • Reduced coordination
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Bloodshot eyes
  • Dry mouth and throat
  • Mild hallucinations
  • Reduced motivation
  • Paranoia
  • Has been known to cause anxiety or panic attacks
  • Increase of appetite (known as the "munchies")
  • Bad breath
  • Sticky fingers
  • Arrest
  • Jail
  • Hippies slowing down traffic in their micro-busses

"Not-so-Bad" Marijuana Side Effects:

  • Has been shown to be an effective treatment for insomnia
  • Decreased social inhibitions
  • Uncontrollable laughter
  • Claimed to minimize nausea realted to chemo-therapy and other treatments
  • Reduces pressure on the inner eye, minimizing discomfort due to glaucoma
  • Some studies indicate that THC actually inhibits cancerous tumour growth
  • THC has been suggested to cause a sluffing of "less-than-healthy" lung tissue, theoritically REDUCING the risk of lung cancer
  • No one has ever open up on a crowd of bystanders with an automatic weapon after smoking a joint
  • Road rage is contraindicated with marijuana use
